You really are good people. I’ve lived in Sydenham for 9 years and couldn’t agree more with your intentions. This little town has so much potential and so many people who live here really do want more than what we are currently presented with in the high street. I stumbled upon your “What if” website purely by accident and I think your design ideas are excellent.
Just the other day I popped into that new “convenience store” to ask the owner if the hideous plastic banner tied up over the old sign was a temporary arrangement. He assured me it was, however, it’s still there.
There is a massive lack of imagination in our local high street which is not (I’m sure) shared by it’s community. Many of us want more, we deserve better and I think you may be leading the way. I’ll happily get involved if you would like some more support with this and I’d like to say well done all round.

Wow, at least I know you gave it some serious thought…13 months !

Lol. I was going to write that I was a very very slow typer but the real reason is that we have a few blogs (we look after the Sydenham Library and Home Park blogs) and have been rather snowed under of late with work all over London, the Greyhound wall which has sucked up a lot of time and the Portas Pilots. So I wasn’t ignoring you, we sometimes miss comments and with a small baby at home don’t always pay enough attention to this blog as we would like! I noticed your comment as we just had a new one, so apologies for not acknowledging you before!

Take care Ben and if there is anything you want to discuss or want to get in touch, please do!

      Hi Duncan,

yes, that got a lot of publicity. It as by Jan Kattein Architects and it looks fab. http://www.jankattein.com/portfolio/high-road-leyton/ We have done a few of these schemes across London now, check out: http://www.whatifthemanor.wordpress.com, http://www.northwoodhills.wordpress.com and some of our other blogs. THere is lots of this stuff going on. We are lucky to be involved in some of it and have been with the Portas pilot in Sydenham and Forest Hill. When we get a bit of free time we will be updating the news on the Greyhound and we have a couple of other projects for Sydenham Road lined up.

      Regards

      Lee

Hey no worries. I know about the small baby thing as I had three at once, now they are 7.
Portas project sounds interesting. I’d love to know more…and when are those pesky developers going to rebuild the Greyhound?
You can answer in good time no hurry.

      Hi Ben,

wow, 3 at once! We are struggling with one! The developers are pressing us to finish the artwork as they are ready to order the tile. As the lead times are 2 months that may give you an indication as to when it will be finished. Hopefully! Look up SEE3.co.uk for information on the Portas Pilot. Ok, back to work, we have a big presentation for Wednesday. See you in 13 months! 😉

Just one question what do you do?

      Regards

      Lee

I’m not a designer but I have ideas about what I’d like to see with old buildings etc. I love the “What If’ blog!

Thanks Billy. It’s always nice to get comments like these.
